NIJ Threat Protection Chart ('06 and '04)*
* There is no difference in threat between the NIJ ’04 and NIJ ’06 standards. The differences are in the rigorous nature of the test protocols.
- 04 requires 9 plates tested while 06 is 24
- 04 conditioning requires water “spray” for 6 minutes while 06 is submerged in water for 30 minutes with a 10 minute drip period
- 06 also requires a 10 day tumble (149F,80%hum), 1 day of thermal exposure (5-194F,0-80%hum) as well as a mechanical durability test (drop)
Next day shipping is no joke. My old plate rack was a Medium so I ordered Medium SAPI. Perfect fit. Timely and well packed. I’m ready if trouble comes my way. Buying for the family next!
Got my SAPI set. I am a BIG GUY and the XL’s were too big for my plate carrier. I decided to order a First Spear Strandhogg XL and plates were perfect. Finally, a product that fits a REAL man size
I ordered a pair of NIJ 06 Level IV multicurve SAPI plates, then validated the part number with LTC to verify they’re legitimate after they arrived. Date of manufacture was less than a year away, plates are in great condition and arrived neatly packaged in a box with Styrofoam. I ordered them on a Saturday evening, had a response from the owner the next day and they arrived the day after. Don’t let the lack of an internet presence scare you away, sometimes it really just is a dude’s startup.
I’m just curious if you have a steel version plate, similar to the plate you guys made a long time ago, made for helicopter pilots, rated up to a 50 caliber round.I doubt I would ever encounter a 50 caliber round but I wanted a plate rated for anything I did encounter and something that would take multiple upon multiple of hits.I was going to approach you guys at some point when I had the money for it because I knew it wouldn’t be cheap at all.
